Jaffna has many unique things to see and visit, such as ancient fortresses and temples, remote islands, and truly amazing food
In ancient times, the Naga lived on the Jahuna Peninsula. Then came the Kingdom of Ariyachakravarti, which has strong ties to Madurai’s Pandia in India. The ruins of their kingdom are mainly in the Nalur district. Then Portuguese, Dutch and British came and left their mark on the fort, public library and clock tower. Between 1983 and 2009, Jaffna plunged into the Sri Lankan Civil War, retreating the city for over 100 years.
