Anuradhapura

Anuradhapura is located in the north of Sri Lanka and is the very first capital of the country The city of Anuradhapura is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and has been the center of Theravada Buddhism for several centuries The city itself is not much and feels more like a big village, but the reason why most people come to Anuradhapura is the old town, a large site full of excavated temples, baths and museums.

Most of the ruins of Anuradhapura remain as temples or holy places in today’s time. All of these wonderful establishments were created during the ruling period of different dynasties.
